Strong Prospects for Shift to Digital in Turkey

Motorola hosted a two-day road show in Istanbul on 13 May, with the spotlight on its industry-leading MOTOTRBO digital two-way radio system. The event attracted channel partners, customers, government representatives and members of the press and comprised presentations on the benefits MOTOTRBO brings to diverse industries.

Motorola is working closely with its in-country partners AIR Turkey and Novatel to bring its broad product portfolio to the local market. Cenk Cesur, Motorola Country Manager noted: “We have been operating in Turkey since 1995 and our radio systems are being used by many professional and public safety organisations. The MOTOTRBO digital two-way radio system is specifically designed to meet the expanding needs of customers, particularly those requiring reliable, business-critical communications combined with the higher performance capabilities that digital technology can deliver.”

In addition to discovering MOTOTRBO’s enhanced voice communications and data applications, guests were enthused by the release of IP Site Connect, which delivers increased coverage and connects multiple locations, allowing businesses greater mobility without geographical limitations.

Also drawing interest was a sneak preview of Capacity Plus, a single-site trunking solution that will provide access for up to eight voice channels and availability of additional channels for data communications on a MOTOTRBO system – ideal for companies operating at a single site with a large number of users. This solution will be officially launched in July.

“MOTOTRBO provides voice and data capability in a single device while still focusing on quality, reliability and mobility. We believe that professionals, local municipalities and public safety entities will benefit from MOTOTRBO’s operational efficiency and ability to deliver increased mobility,” added Cesur.

Live demonstrations were held in the exhibition area with Motorola Application Partners SafeMobile and EuroCom highlighting their solutions for mobile asset management and automatic vehicle location. Technical training was held on 14 May to provide channel partners with greater insight into the digital two-way radio platform.

The road show received an outstanding response from visitors, with 73% of customers indicating that they believe MOTOTRBO is the right technology for their business. Media interest was also extremely positive and the event received widespread coverage in Turkey’s leading national press.

Egon Prinz, Regional Sales Director, Government and Public Safety Business said: “What makes MOTOTRBO different is that it minimises acquisition and operating costs. In addition to a lower total cost of ownership, MOTOTRBO can operate in both analogue and digital modes, thus making it easy to integrate with legacy communication infrastructure. Customers can improve basic functionality, add new features and increase capacity at their own pace, while leveraging existing system investments.”
